about

Cacophany Arkestra’s suite of ‘BREXODUS’ songs, anti-fracking ballads and windrush laments, is a Soca-ized remix of afrobeat, jazz and spaghetti western tunes. They’re the austerity World Service soundtrack playing as you try to dance on a day-glo orange raft of the Medusa, scuppered and sinking in the turbulent waters around this sceptered isle.
Cacophany Arkestra roots are as a processional carnival arts collective, but their thirst for adventure and eclectic tastes have lured them into numerous collaborations with Three Johns singer John Hyatt (The Club Big Band, John Hyatt’s Plastic Reality, Glamogoth), and they’ve participated in Anthony Donovan (Classwar Karaoke)’s ‘Murmurists’ scripted improvisation project.
On the horizon are a second album- ‘No Man Is An Island’, participation in the Peterloo 200 events, and in 2020 a collaboration with all female Sea Shanty singing group, ‘She Shanties’.
The songs on BREXODUS hold a broken mirror up to reflect upon Brexit, Fracking, Windrush and Austerity Britain.
